Used to be, when weather got bad, churches had two options: a) meet in spite of the weather or b) cancel services.
Not anymore. As most of you know, this week, confronted with dangerous road conditions, we decided to choose c), something totally different. I got in touch with a pastor friend in Arkansas who broadcasts his service live over the Internet. Then his tech people and our tech people got together and next thing you know, Spout Springs Church and Brand New Church were worshiping together.
Some of our people used the live feed on our iCampus, some jumped over to theirs where they joined quite a few Brand New Church people who were also forced to stay home because of bad weather.
I even got my neighbor, who doesn’t attend church, to attend our house church.
Which leads to the question, are there other areas where we need to start looking for Plan C? Other areas where technology can increase our options and give us a greater ability to advance God’s Kingdom? Increase our effectiveness in making disciples? Reach more people?
I know from now on, we’ll always be looking for Plan C.
